The Prince of Homburg

There is no doubt that the play is a deeply reactionary revival of Prussian founding myths for the purpose of war propaganda - at least on the one hand. On the other hand, it is a linguistic and compositional masterpiece whose polished form contrasts with its dissonant content. A contradictory classic.
